Mia Kurihara
A victim of Child Abuse was a 10 year old girl in Japan who is dead due to her abusive father. She made allegations of violence in a confidential school questionnaire, she had written a note to her teacher that her father was abusive and she was pleading with her school to help her but the authorities struggled to respond to her plea of help.
Whilst she was pleading for help, she was placed in protective custody and lived with a relative but officials decided to send her home. After Mia returned to her home, child welfare and education officials made no effort to visit her home whatsoever and she was found dead less than a year later. Her father was arrested on suspicion of inflicting the injuries that led to the death of her daughter after she failed to show up at school after winter break so her father had told the school that she was staying with some relatives. Her body was found in the family home the day before her father was arrested and her mother was also arrested for conspiring to inflict injury. The father denied that he abused his daughter but instead used strict parenting methods further claiming that he did nothing wrong, however, the mother claims that she was also abused by the husband and covered up Mia’s death in fear for her own safety.
Mia Kurihara was found dead at her home in Noda, Japan.

In California there was a couple that was jailed for at least 25 years for the crime of admitting to imprisoning 12 of their 13 children in a “grisly “house of horrors” case”. The couple pleaded guilty to 14 felony counts. The case was discovered because one of the children snuck through the window and escaped and called emergency services. After being rescued, the children were in the care of child and adult protective services. Due to there age and the law of california, both parents will be eligible for parole after 25 years of imprisonment. According to the report, “ two of her siblings were chained to their beds so tightly that their skin was bruised and she struggled to tell the operator the home address.”(Strait Time)
